On Wednesday night, the PCHS Pirates and Penquis Patriots battled out through 80 minutes of regulation and two overtimes, ending in a 2-2 tie in a Class C girls soccer battle.
The scoring opened with a Penquis goal from Addison Conklin. Hope Hunt netted an equalizer minutes later leading to a halftime score of 1-1. Kaileigh Elderkin scored the go ahead ahead goal with 33:16 left to go in the game on an assist from Molly Sipple. The game was sent into OT on a goal from Jessica Broussard with 15 minutes to go.
Brylee Ricker, Sarah Silva and Sipple anchored an unbelievable defensive effort, stopping many of the Penquis offensive chances. Pirate goalie Bella Buehne had 16 saves, while Brooklyn Decker of the Patriots had 19 saves.
