The PVHS Lady Howlers soccer team came into their contest with Penquis of Milo on Wednesday averaging over seven goals per game. After 90 minutes of action including two overtimes, both teams left the field scoreless in a 0-0 tie.
Both defenses played outstanding, and it was a hard fought game from beginning to end. PVHS goalie Lauryn Smart stopped six of seven shots, while Penquis keeper Brooklyn Decker saved 16 of 28.
The tie halted the Howlers nine game winning streak. PVHS came into the contest outscoring opponents 66-3.
Penquis now has a record of 3-5-3, and will play at Bangor Christian Tuesday. Penobscot Valley is now 9-0-1, and will play at Greenville Friday.
