Tereza Holubcova scored a game winning goal in the third quarter, and Poppy Lambert had a pair of goals on Friday afternoon as the #21 Maine Black Bears picked up a 6-3 America East Field Hockey win over the Bryant Bulldogs in a game played at Brown University in Smithfield, Rhode Island. The victory is the 10th straight for Maine.

Maine got off to a fast 2-0 lead on goals by Madisyn Hartley and Chloe Walton at 3:15 and 5:26 of the first quarter. Bryant (4-11, 0-6 America East) battled back to tie it on a tally by Lotte Guitink at 14:19, and then a goal by Taryn Ruff 3:25 into the second. The Black Bears took a 3-2 halftime advantage on the first of the day by Lambert with 3:33 left before the break. Holubcova scored her second of the season and the eventual game winner 3:35 into the third quarter, before the Bulldogs cut it back to a one goal deficit at 4-3 when Ruff notched her second of the afternoon just 24 seconds later. It took the guests 34 seconds to respond to that on a second tally by Lambert, her 16th on the year. Kate Richardson finished the scoring getting her first of the season for the Bears late in the third.

Mia Borley picked up the win in net for Maine making three saves. Along with the two goals from Lambert, Hartley finished with one goal and two assists and Walton had one goal and one assist. Dieneke Hes made 13 saves in the loss for Bryant. The Black Bears are now 11-3 overall, 5-0 in conference play and will face Boston University on the road in their final non-conference game of the season on Tuesday at 3:30 p.m. Maine hasn’t lost since a 1-0 home setback to Quinnipiac in non-conference action back on September 4th. The 10 game win streak is the second longest in program history, as the 2011 team won 11 in a row.
