The Husson University men’s and women’s soccer teams both earned the #1 seed in the final North Atlantic Conference (East Division) regular season standings, and will now host the NAC East Division Tournament in Bangor this weekend.
On the men’s side, the top seeded Eagles (12-3-2, 8-0-1 NAC) will face #4 Maine Maritime Academy (5-9-1, 4-4-1) on Friday at 5 p.m. at Boucher Field on the campus of Husson University. Husson just knocked off the Mariners in the regular season finale 2-0 this past Saturday. The winner would meet the winner of the second semifinal between #2 UMaine-Farmington (8-6-2, 6-2-1) and #3 Thomas College (6-6-4, 4-2-3) on Sunday in the East Division Finals. The Eagles beat both the Beavers and Terriers by 2-0 scores in the regular season as well. If Husson wins the East Division playoffs, they would then host the NAC Championship game against the West winner on Saturday, November 5. The top seed in the West is SUNY-Poly, followed by SUNY-Canton, SUNY-Delhi, and SUNY-Cobleskill.
On the women’s side, the Eagles finished off an unbeaten NAC regular season by defeating Maine Maritime on Saturday 6-0 to earn the top seed. Husson (9-6-1, 8-0-1) will square off with #4 University of Maine- Presque Isle (6-3-4, 5-2-1) on Boucher Field on Saturday at 1 p.m. The Owls were the only conference opponent to not lose to the Eagles in the regular season, as the teams battled to a 1-1 tie back on October 1. #2 UMaine-Farmington (8-6-3, 5-1-3) and #3 MMA (6-8-1, 6-3-0) will meet in the second semifinal on Saturday. The two winners then face one another on Sunday for the East Division Title. The Husson women would also host the NAC Championship game with the West winner on Saturday, November 5 if they capture the East Title. The top seed in the West is SUNY-Delhi, followed by SUNY-Poly, Cazenovia, and Northern Vermont-Johnson.
