MCI girls basketball 2022/2023 preview

2021/2022 Record: 10-8 with a quarterfinal loss to Hermon.

 

“The expectations this year is quite similar to last season, we are looking to make it to the Cross Center and after that play our game and anything can happen,” Bartlett said. “The strength of this team will be our defense creating turnovers and using our athleticism to create easy baskets.”

The Huskies will have a strong returning group.

“We have two returning starters from last year, first being a senior captain Ella Bernier. After finishing her junior year with two of her best games scoring double digits in both Waterville and Dover, we are expecting big things from Ella this year. The other returning starter is Hannah Robinson who has started the past two seasons, with her toughness, determination, and leadership we are expecting big things from the senior captain. Other returning players from last season is senior captain Trinity Leavitt with her shooting ability, great defense, and the ability to create turnovers will be a key part of this season. Other key players will be junior Skyla Dean, and sophomores Jyllian Riendeau,and Adrianna Brooks all three will play key roles in the 2022-2023 season,” Bartlett said. “New incoming player is senior Jenessa Foster. Jenessa played as a freshman and a sophomore, but took her junior year off. Her athleticism and hard work will always put her in situations to succeeds. She will be a key part of our defense and this upcoming season.”

The Huskies will open the season on December 10th at home against Orono. That is a game that can be seen live on Eastern Maine Sports Media. MCI will host Winslow on December 13th before playing their first road game on December 16th at Waterville. Eastern Maine Sports Media is scheduled to broadcast three MCI games- January 13th against Medomak Valley, January 21st against Old Town, and the regular season opener.
