December 3, 2022

David Pastrnak and Trent Frederic scored two goals each on Saturday night, as the Boston Bruins improved to 14-0-0 at home with a 5-1 victory over the defending Stanley Cup Champion Colorado Avalanche at TD Garden.

Pastrnak opened the scoring at 13:49 of the first period on the powerplay. Brad Marchand sent a pass from the bottom of the right faceoff circle over to Pastrnak in the left circle who one-timed it past Colorado goalie Pavel Francouz glove side. Frederic made it 2-0 just over five minutes later. Pastrnak took a pass from David Krejci at the 4:48 mark of the second for a breakaway goal. Pastrnak deeked Francouz faking a backhander and keeping it on his forehand on a beautiful tally. Andrew Cogliano got the Avalance (13-8-1) on the board with their lone goal at 6:32 of the third period unassisted. The Bruins capped off the win when Frederic scored his second of the game at 15:32, and then just 10 seconds later Jake Debrusk got his 100th career NHL marker to finish the scoring.

Along with the two goals each from Pastrnak and Frederic, Charlie McAvoy also chipped in two assists. Linus Ullmark made 24 saves in net. Boston outshot Colorado 40-25. Francouz made 35 saves in the loss for the Avalanche. The Bruins are now 20-3 on the season and will host the Vegas Golden Knights and former head coach Bruce Cassidy on Monday night at 7 p.m.
