The Orono Red Riots got 23 points from freshman Brady Hews on Thursday night, and rolled to a 93-38 boys basketball win over the Hermon Hawks at Orono High School.
Orono (2-0) would jump out early by starting the game on two different runs, 18-0 and then 14-2 making the score 32-2 halfway through the second quarter. The Red Riots would never look back, as Hews was the leading scorer in the contest that included 10 of his 23 in the final period. Pierce Walston would fill up the stat sheet with a team leading seven assists and six rebounds to go along with his 14 points and four steals. Hermon (1-1) would be led by Owen Wyman who ended up with 13 points and a team leading five rebounds. Carter Wiggin would lead the team in assists with two. Hermon is set to battle Caribou (1-1) in a home game on Saturday, while Orono is scheduled to take on MDI (1-1) in a home game on Saturday as well both weather permitting.
