DEXTER- The Dexter Tigers boys and girls basketball teams remained undefeated in the Class C North standings on Friday night with decisive wins over the visiting Searsport Vikings at Ed Guiski Gymnasium.
In the girl’s game- Dexter raced out to a 26-3 halftime lead and held Searsport without a point in the second and third quarters in rolling to a 47-8 win.
Abi Corson led the way in the victory for the 6-0 Tigers with 16 points (3 three-pointers), also adding four steals and two assists. Corson was named Bangor Savings Bank Player of the Game. Desiree Adams scored 11 points off the bench and had five steals. Mazie Peach chipped in six points, five rebounds, two steals, and two blocks while Jozlynn Paige and Jillean Poliquin contributed four points a piece. Julianna Sprague led Searsport (0-4) with four points and eight rebounds. The Tigers outrebounded the Vikings 31-22.
In the boy’s game- Dexter ran out quickly to a 21-7 lead after one quarter and 35-13 at the half backed by 21 first half points from Will Kusnierz and defeated Searsport 69-33.
Kusnierz ended up with 28 points, eight rebounds, three assists, and two blocks for the 7-0 Tigers. He was named the Bangor Savings Bank Player of the Game. Bryce Connor had 10 points and four assists, while Kayden Kimball, Kellen Peavey, and Ethan Doherty had six points a piece. Kimball added four rebounds and Doherty had two blocks, as Dexter put 10 players in the scoring column. Tim Smith had 12 points and five rebounds for 1-3 Searsport. Ashton Ellis chipped in six points, and Sean Page contributed four points and seven rebounds. The Tigers outrebounded the Vikings 29-17.
Next up, the Dexter girls team will host Stearns on Tuesday while the boys also play at home on Thursday against Class B opponent Foxcroft Academy. Both Searsport teams are at Central on Wednesday.
