HOWLAND- The Penobscot Valley Howlers had six different players score, all of which recorded at least one steal in a 40-31 girls basketball win over Dexter on Thursday night. It was the first loss of the season for the Tigers.
After a back and forth first half, PVHS would come out strong at the beginning of the third quarter going on a quick 6-0 run that would tie the game. Behind the run and some stellar defense they would take the lead for good, outscoring the Lady Tigers 26-11 in the second half.
Holly Loring led the way for the Lady Howlers with 10 points, six rebounds, two steals, one assist, and one block. Kaya Loring recorded nine points, one rebound, two assists, and three steals. Ashlyn St. Cyr and Rylee Moulton also finished with eight and six points respectively, while Moulton would also add three steals. Penobscot Valley (9-1) is scheduled to play Penquis at home Friday.
Hannah Dean and Mazie Peach each had eight points for the Tigers. Peach had eight rebounds, while Dean had seven. Dean, Jozlynn Paige, and Cally Gudroe would all add two assists each. Dexter (10-1) is scheduled to host Penquis on Tuesday.
