BOSTON- Hampus Lindholm, David Pastrnak, and Charlie McAvoy each had a goal and an assist, as the Boston Bruins shutout the San Jose Sharks 4-0 at TD Garden Sunday evening for their fifth win in a row.
Lindholm scored his sixth goal of the season at 7:16 of the first in which was the only tally that was needed, receiving a pass at the point and then faking a shot before stepping around a San Jose defenseman and firing a hard wristshot from the high slot stick side past Sharks goalie James Reimer. McAvoy made it 2-0 with a beautiful goal at 4:08 of the second. McAvoy took a drop pass from Pastrnak at center ice, broke through two defenders and then did a curl and drag move on Reimer and slammed it into the back of the net. Nick Foligno added on, tipping a shot from the point by Lindholm into the back of the cage from the low slot at 7:46. Pastrnak ended the scoring on the powerplay at 2:40 of the third period, slapping a one-timer from the left faceoff circle on a pass from Patrice Bergeron from the right circle. Boston has now beaten San Jose 11 straight times.
Craig Smith, Joona Koppanen, Matt Grzelcyk, Brad Marchand, and Bergeron all had one assist each in the Boston win, as their record goes to 37-5-4. Linus Ullmark played most of the game and made 17 saves for his second shutout of the season. He left briefly in the third period when he broke his skate, and Jeremy Swayman filled in and stopped the only shot he saw in 2:28 of time. Ullmark now has a record of 25-2-1 with a 1.82 goals against average and a save percentage of .938. He also broke a team record, reaching 25 wins in just 28 games a record that was previously held by Tiny Thompson in the 1929-30 season who reached 25 wins in 29 games. Reimer made 18 stops on 22 shots in the loss for San Jose, who falls to 14-25-9. The Bruins are in Montreal to face the Canadiens on Tuesday night.
