On senior night in Dyer Brook on Wednesday, the Penobscot Valley girls basketball team was able to earn the road victory over host Southern Aroostook by a 42-31 score to complete a season sweep.
Sophomore guard Ellie Austin lead the Howlers with 15 points & a career-high 14 rebounds. PVHS dominated the glass with a 30-16 edge.
The offensive firepower of the Lady Warriors has averaged 65 points a game this season. The PVHS defensive intensity was anchored by Kaya Loring who had five steals on the night, and also added seven points.
Senior forward Holly Loring continued filling up the stat sheet with 13 points & 10 boards, and sealed the game late with crucial free throws.
Southern Aroostook senior Maddie Russell had a game high 18 points, Maddie Shields added four, and Cami Shields contributed three points.
PVHS (14-1) will next travel to Stearns on Monday, while SA (13-3) will face off with Katahdin on Wednesday.
