BANGOR- Houlton sank 25 free throws on Saturday morning, and would roll to a 54-32 Class B girls quarterfinal win over Washington Academy at the Cross Insurance Center.
The Shires fell just short of a Class B girls Tournament record for free throw makes of 29, as they finished 25 out of 36. Houlton (11-9) led all the way and by 11 at halftime before pulling away in the second half to advance to the semifinals on Wednesday at 3:30 p.m. to take on top seed and undefeated Old Town. Ameilia Callnan led the way in the win with 13 points, three rebounds, and five steals. Drew Warman would lead the team in steals with seven to go with her four points and four rebounds. Washington Academy was led by Marrisa Cates who had six points in the game to go along with 16 rebounds. Sarah Moulton would also have six points and would add six rebounds of her own. The Raiders season ends with a record of 11-8.
