BANGOR- The PVHS Howlers outscored the Sumner Tigers by 19 in both the first and second half on Monday evening, and cruised to a 54-16 Maine Principals’ Association Class C girls quarterfinal win at the Cross Insurance Center.
PVHS held just an 11-6 lead after one quarter, but then outscored Sumner 16-2 in the second to begin pulling away and breezing to a semifinal matchup with Hodgdon. Ellie Austin would lead the way for the Howlers with 19 points to go along seven rebounds and four steals, while Holly Loring would score 12 points and grab a team leading 15 rebounds, along with five assists and five steals. Sumner would be led by Jenna Colby who had four points and four rebounds. Brooklyn Newenham and Bri Flaherty would lead the team in steals both with two. #2 PVHS (18-1) will face the #3 Hodgon Hawks (18-1) in the semifinals that is scheduled for Thursday afternoon weather permitting, while the season for the Tigers ends with a 9-10 record.
