BANGOR— The Dexter Lady Tigers rallied from a double digit deficit and defeated Central 56-51 in a Maine Principals’ Association Class C girls semifinal game played at the Cross Insurance Center on Friday afternoon.
The Lady Red Devils jumped out to a 21-10 lead after the first quarter behind 10 points from Izzy Allen. Dexter outscored Central 11-5 in the second quarter to cut the deficit to 26-21 heading into intermission.
Dexter scored the first six points in the second half to take their first lead of the game. The teams went back and forth in the third quarter with Dexter finishing the quarter with a 38-34 lead. Mazie Peach had nine points (5-6 from the free throw line) in the period.
The Lady Tigers went 11-15 from the free throw line in the fourth quarter to secure the win. Cally Gudroe scored a team high 18 points to lead Dexter. Peach finished with 17 points, 13 rebounds, and three blocks. Hannah Dean added nine points, eight rebounds, and two assists. Jozlynn Paige had seven points, while Abi Corson put in five points. Dexter (19-1) will play PVHS in the regional championship game on Saturday night at 7 PM.
Dexter out rebounded Central 29-18. The Tigers shot 17-22 (all in the second half) from the free throw line. The Lady Red Devils shot 6-8 from the line.
Izzy Allen scored a game high 24 points for the Lady Red Devils. She also had six rebounds, three steals, and two blocks. Mary Allen added 11 points, eight rebounds, and four assists. Sydney Gray, Rylee Speed, and Chloe Daigle chipped in with eight, six, and two points respectively. Central finishes the season with a record of 17-4.
