The Boston Bruins announced Thursday that they have signed star forward David Pastrnak to an eight year extension.
Pastrnak will make 11.25 million per year (90 million total) through the 2030-31 season. It is the sixth largest deal in NHL history. He had been eligible for free agency after this season before the signing. The Czech-born winger is second in the league with 42 goals, and has 38 assists (fourth in points) leading Boston to an NHL best 47-8-5 record (99 points). He’s played all nine of his seasons for the Black and Gold, totaling 282 goals and 302 assists.
Also on Thursday, the Bruins announced they’ve acquired forward Tyler Bertuzzi from the Detroit Red Wings. The 28-year old has four goals and 14 assists in 29 games this season. Boston sends a 2024 first round pick and a fourth round pick in 2025 to Detroit in compensation.
