Dexter Tennis 2023 preview
Boys – (2022 record – 4-8) Tigers coach Peter Murray said, “We are hoping to improve this season. Last year we entered the season with little to no experience. This year we will have several players returning and ready to make a solid showing this season.”
Trevor Speed, Brady Reynolds, and Jay Bowden are all returning singles players from last season.
”We should have a couple of veteran players to man the singles positions but would be relying on some new faces to fill the doubles teams,” Murray said. “Cole Doherty and Aiden Langlais were doubles partners last season and gained some valuable experience and could challenge the singles players for those positions. ”Seth Craig will fill out a doubles team with Skylar Tasker, Jacoby Pratt, Trevor Picariello, and Cian Galligan challenging for a spot there as well.“
Girls – (2022 record – 6-6) With the majority of the roster returning from 2022, the Tigers expect to be competitive in Class C North.
“We return several experienced players this season,”Murray said. “With only one senior on last year’s team, we hope to make a return trip to the playoffs.”
Cally Gudroe, Annika King, and Elisa Picarello are all experienced singles players returning this year.
Murray said, “we look for all three of them to have solid seasons.”
Sydney Fogler, MacKenzie Trafton, and Graci Scott spent last season in various combinations playing doubles.
Murray said, “all are veterans and should be able to pick up where they left off last season.”
Newcomer Annebelle Peakes will join returning players Andrea Gilman, Lucy Alexander, Emily Manter, and Brianna Packard to add depth to this year’s team. Newcomers Acadia Markum and Lilly Brown should challenge for playing positions as well. Other players on the girl’s team include Brooklyn Sanchez, Jennifer Bradley, Abigail Bradley, Annabelle Kenniston-Johndro, and Gabby Judkins.
