David Pastrnak had a hat trick and also added an assist on Sunday night, as the Boston Bruins broke the all-time regular season wins record with a 5-3 victory over the Philadelphia Flyers at the Wells Fargo Center. Boston surpasses the 1995-96 Detroit Red Wings and 2018-19 Tampa Bay Lightning for wins in a regular season with 63.
After the game was tied 1-1 though one period, Pastrnak scored at 2:04 and 7:31 of the second to make it 3-1 Boston. He scored the eventual game winner, his 60th tally of the season, 39 seconds into the third. Charlie Coyle and Pavel Zacha also scored for the Bruins, and Tyler Bertuzzi added three assists. Jeremy Swayman made 34 saves in net to help improve the teams overall record to 63-12-5. Owen Tippett and Joel Farabee both had one goal and one assist in the loss for Philadelphia (29-38-13). Felix Sandstrom made 29 stops in between the pipes for the Flyers. Boston (131 points) is now just two points shy of breaking the all-time record for points in one season that was set by the 1976-77 Montreal Canadiens (132). The B’s have won six in a row and 13 of their last 14, and have two regular season games remaining beginning with their final regular season home game on Tuesday night against Washington. Pastrnak joined Phil Esposito as the only players in franchise history to score at least 60 goals in a season.
