Four runs in the fourth inning led Woodland past Narraguagus 7-1 on Wednesday in a baseball season opener played at Woodland.
The offensive firepower for the Dragons was led by Isaiah Nicholas, Cyrus Sewell, and Brogan Brown, all sending runners across the plate with RBIs in the fourth inning. Two of the runs were scored when Sewell and Brown drew bases loaded walks.
Evan Curtis took the win for Woodland on the mound. The right hander allowed three hits and one run over 4.2 innings, striking out seven and walking none. Brown and Sewell entered the game out of the bullpen and helped to close out the game in relief.
Michael Stanwood started on the hill for Narraguagus. The righty surrendered five runs on two hits over 3.2 innings, striking out six. McKade Robertson threw 2.1 innings in relief out of the bullpen.
Braden Richard went 2-for-3 at the plate to lead Woodland. The Dragons was sure-handed in the field and didn’t commit a single error. Richard had the most chances in the field with 14. Next up, Woodland plays at Lee Academy and Narraguagus will host Sumner with both games on Saturday.
