The Portland Sea Dogs rallied from behind on Sunday afternoon to beat the Erie Seawolves 6-2 in 10 innings at UPMC Park in Erie, Pennsylvania in Double A minor league baseball action, taking five games out of the six game set.
Portland (16-5) trailed 2-0 until the eighth inning, but tied it on a two out, two-run single by Matthew Lugo. The Sea Dogs exploded in a four run 10th on a run scoring single by Alex Binelas, a Lugo RBI double, an RBI groundout by Christian Koss, and a bases loaded walk by Tyler McDonough. Lugo led the way with three hits and three RBI, and Koss had two hits. Portland used five different pitchers on the afternoon, with Luis Guerrero (1-0) picking up the win. Wenceel Perez had two hits for the Erie Seawolves, while Michael Bienlien was tagged with a blown save and Dario Gardea (1-2) took the loss in relief. Erie (Detroit Tigers) fall to 8-13 on the season. The Sea Dogs lost the first game of the series, but won the last five and currently have a 3.5 game first place lead in the Eastern League Northeast Division.
Portland will open up a six game road series with Akron (Cleveland Guardians) on Tuesday night.
