NCAA Division III Regional Tournament locations and opponents announced for Husson baseball and softball

The 2023 North Atlantic Conference Champion Husson baseball and softball teams had their had their NCAA Division III Tournament Regional locations and opponent announced on Monday afternoon.

The Eagles baseball team (24-17) will head to New London, Connecticut in a regional hosted by Mitchell College. Husson will face #8 Wheaton College (Massachusetts) in the opener on Friday at 10 a.m. The Lions went 37-6 in the regular season with a 16-1 record in New England Women’s and Men’s Athletic Conference, capturing the postseason league title 10-2 over Babson. Tufts University (31-9) is the other participant in the double elimination four team field and will face Mitchell College (31-8) in game two on Friday. Husson did face Mitchell College in the regular season on the same field, dropping a doubleheader back on March 26 by scores of 17-8 and 6-2. This is the third straight appearance in the tournament for Husson, who went 1-2 in last year’s regional at Glenside, Pennsylvania beating Elizabethtown College and losing to #5 Arcadia University and #16 SUNY-Oswego.

The Eagles softball team (30-12-1) will be heading to Medford, Massachusetts in the regional hosted by Tufts University. #6 Tufts (37-4) will be their first round opponent on Thursday at 3:30. The Jumbos were the runners-up in the NESCAC postseason tournament. Cabrini University (29-12), winners of the Atlantic East Tournament, and Moravian University (29-5) who were the runners-up of the Landmark Conference are the other two participants in the double elimination four team field. Husson is appearing in the fifth straight NCAA Tournament that has been played, going 3-8 in their prior games. In 2021, the Eagles lost a 1-0 heartbreaker to Tufts in Bangor in a regional final contest.
