The Bangor Christian Patriots got solid hitting and a good performance on the mound from Ryan Libby on Wednesday afternoon to stay unbeaten in topping Penobscot Valley (PVHS) 12-2 in five innings in Class D North high school baseball action in Bangor.
Ryan Libby struggled in the first inning on the hill by hitting two batters, and allowing two runs and two hits as PVHS took an early 2-0 lead. He settled in from there not giving up any runs on just one Howlers hit during the remainder of his 3.0 inning outing. He also did well at the plate in helping Bangor Christian improve to 8-0, going 4-4 and scoring all four times. Jason Libby would also continue his stellar season for the Patriots by homering to left centerfield. He pitched 1.0 inning in relief and had his strikeout streak end at 24 consecutive when the first batter he faced popped out foul to the catcher.
Colton White also went 3-3 for Bangor Christian with three RBI, and Cole Payne had two hits as they scored in each inning. White is quietly having a superb season leading the team with a .733 batting average out of the five hole in the lineup. Isaac Doore had two hits and also struckout five on the mound for 2-8 PVHS. The Patriots look to stay undefeated on Friday when they host the Machias Bulldogs at 4:30 p.m.
