The Gray-New Gloucester Little League baseball team secured wins in both of their games so far at the New England Regional in Bristol, Connecticut to advance to the championship game that will be held on Thursday, with a trip to the Little League World Series in Williamsport, Pennsylvania on the line.
GNG advanced to the New England Regional by defeating Augusta, Maine 12-0 in the Maine State Championship in Hermon back on July 30th. In their first game in Bristol, Gray-New Gloucester defeated Salem, New Hampshire 3-0 on Saturday. They followed that up by sending Canton, Massachusetts to their first postseason loss on Monday by a score of 7-1. Mason Amergian hit a grandslam and earned the pitching win as well. The championship game is scheduled for 7 p.m. on Thursday, and the Maine team will have a rematch with Canton, Mass (who defeated Salem 5-0 Wednesday in an elimination game) to decide who heads to Pennsylvania for the World Series. The contest will be televised nationally on ESPN.
