The Bucksport Golden Bucks and the Foxcroft Academy Ponies boys soccer teams met to open the season on Saturday evening in Bucksport. Foxcroft would strike quickly to open the game with a goal in the third minute of play. Bucksport would then respond in a big way pouring on five goals over the next twenty minutes of play to put them up 5-1. Foxcroft looked to take the momentum back with just a few minutes left to play, scoring a penalty kick to close the gap to 5-2. As time ticked down in the first half, the Bucks would again respond to widen their lead to 6-2 with merely two seconds left on the clock. The second half opened and Foxcroft would again seize momentum back with multiple scoring opportunities in the first ten minutes, but Bucksport would manage to keep the ball out of the back of the net. Play went back and forth after that with both teams seeing chances, but it would be the Golden Bucks who would strike for the only goal of the second half with fifteen minutes left to play.
