At Howland on Wednesday, Penobscot Valley continued their torrid scoring pace with five first half goals, wrapping up the season sweep of George Stevens Academy with a 7-0 girls soccer win.

Lila Cummings fingerprints were all over this game from the get-go, finishing with a goal and five assists. Her first helper came as she set up Rylee Moulton eleven minutes into the game. Moulton ended up going one on one with goalie Mya Schildroth for the score. Cummings notched the second goal just a few minutes later, as she received a pass from senior captain Mia Neal near the 18, zipped past a few defenders and shot high over the keepers left shoulder. Moulton would score her second goal, as she redirected a high outside cross from Cummings off her body into the net. In nearly an identical play from the opposite side of the field, Ashlyn St. Cyr bodied an airborne corner kick from senior captain Emma Potter’s corner kick for goal number four on the day with 12 minutes remaining in the half. Moulton would convert a breakaway pass from fellow sophomore Cummings for a goal with just 33 seconds remaining before the half.

The Lady Howlers shared the ball extremely well in the second half, and got their first score about six minutes in. Savannah Durost received a pass up the wing from Moulton and immediately found Cummings streaking. Cummings dribbled toward the right side of the 6-yard line, where she sent a beautiful pass across the goal line to Ellie Austin, who pushed it into the net. The seventh and final goal of the game came when Cummings once again attacked the endline and passed across the middle. St. Cyr fired the pass into the right side of the net with about 22 minutes remaining.

Freshman Brooklynn Raymond stopped all five shots she faced for 7-0 PVHS, who currently sit in second place in Class D North. The Lady Howlers have some long road trips on the horizon, traveling to Woodland Friday afternoon and Calais on Saturday morning.

For GSA, Schildroth faced 28 shots Wednesday stopping 16. The Eagles drop to 1-5 and host Mt. View on Saturday.
