AUGUSTA- The aerial assault of the Cony High School Rams proved to be too much to handle for Bangor on Friday night, as the battle of the Rams was dominated by the home team in a 55-20 football victory in a Class A/Class B North crossover game played at Fuller Field.
Cony sophomore quarterback Parker Morin had himself quite a night. Morin hit one of his favorite targets in senior wideout Parker Sergent on the first drive of the game for a 38-yard touchdown, to give his team a lead they would never relinquish. About three minutes later, Morin tossed a 58-yard TD pass to Lance Theriault. Sophomore running back Anderson St. Onge made it 20-0 with a 40-yard touchdown scamper early in the second quarter. Bangor (3-3) got on the board for the first time on a 24-yard quarterback keeper by Jack Schuck for a score to slice it to 20-7, but Cony kept their scoring binge going as they put up 29 points in the period. Morin fired three more touchdown passes before the half with two going to Sergent for 41 and 12 yards, wedged around a 20-yard screen pass to St. Onge who took it into the endzone as they built a more than comfortable 42-13 advantage at the break to help move their record to .500 at 3-3.
Morin finished up 25-33 passing for 473 yards with five touchdowns and one interception. He also added three rushes for 38 yards. All five scores he passed for came in the first half. Sergent ended up with 11 catches for 165 yards and two touchdowns, and Theriault had three receptions for 112 yards and his one score on the first possession of the night. St. Onge ran for 109 yards on 14 carries with three touchdowns, and also caught one TD with a 20 yard catch. Schuck went 13-25 passing for 141 yards and a touchdown in the Bangor loss, while carrying the ball four times for 32 yards and a score. Kyle Johnson had 11 rushing attempts for 52 yards and a touchdown, while Daemon Maskala had five receptions for 64 yards and a touchdown. Both teams are back in action next Friday night, as Cony visits Falmouth and Bangor will play host to Edward Little.
