The Husson men’s and women’s soccer teams both took on the University of Maine-Farmington in North Atlantic Conference action on Wednesday. The Eagles women’s team was on the road looking to stay unbeaten in conference play, while the Eagles men’s team hosted the Beavers looking to bounce back from their first NAC defeat this past Sunday against SUNY Poly.
At Leib Field in Farmington Wednesday afternoon- Devon St-Louis had a game winning first half goal as the Husson women’s soccer team stayed unbeaten (5-0-0) in the NAC with a 4-0 victory over UMaine-Farmington. St-Louis scored in the 21st minute to give the Eagles all they would need. Natalie Aviolla scored twice in a 7:39 span of the second half, and also assisted on another marker by Addi Laslie just 1:14 after her second goal. Madison Weigler made four saves in net for her fifth shutout of the season, as Husson improves to 9-4-1 overall. Paige Gonya stopped nine shots in the loss for the Beavers, as they fall to 5-8-1 and 3-3-0 in conference play. The Eagles will play a conference road game Saturday at Lesley University, and a non-conference match at Keene State College on Sunday.
At Boucher Field in Bangor Wednesday night- Josh Nadeau had a game winning goal early in the second half, leading Husson men’s soccer to a 3-1 win over UMaine-Farmington. Mario Alvarez scored the other two goals both unassisted for the Eagles, who improved to 8-4-3 and 4-1-0 in the North Atlantic Conference. Alex Rechsteiner had one save in net in the victory. Mohamed Adow had the lone tally in the loss for UMF, as the Beavers fall to 6-6-2 and 4-3-0 in the conference. Jack Wormald had three saves. Husson hits the road to play a conference matchup with Lesley University on Saturday afternoon.
