Nic Visser tossed a pair of touchdown passes, and Elijah Garnett ran for another on Saturday afternoon as the Husson Eagles opened up the Commonwealth Coast Conference portion of their schedule with a 28-7 win over Curry College at the Winkin Complex in Bangor.
Husson (5-1, 1-0 CCC) opened the scoring early in the second quarter, with a good drive that started in the first. Visser hit Ashton Navarrete for a 16-yard touchdown pass on second down to complete the 16 play, 75 yard march. The extra point however was missed and it was 6-0 Eagles. The hosts got the eventual game winner just over five minutes later, set up by a 33-yard pass from Visser to Cullen Casey. Garnett capped that off with a two-yard TD run, and Casey ran in the two-point conversion. A turnover on the next possession by Curry College led to the third score. Colin Ridley was hit and fumbled at his own 14-yard line, and Tucker Buzzell scooped it up and ran into the endzone for a 21-0 lead which is where it stood at halftime. The last scoring on the day for Husson was a 39-yard touchdown pass by Visser to one of his favorite targets Ja’Quan Myles early in the third quarter. The Colonels scored late in the game with the outcome already decided on an 18-yard TD pass from Michael Moriarty to Ridley with 3:42 remaining.
