Poitras scores his first two career goals to help the Bruins stay unbeaten

Matthew Poitras scored his first two career NHL goals, including the game winner with 9:40 left in the third period Sunday night to lead the Boston Bruins past the Anaheim Ducks 3-1 at the Honda Center in Anaheim, California.

Mason McTavish has given Anaheim (1-4-0) the lead after a scoreless two periods with a goal 5:05 into the third period. Poitras got Boston even with his first of the night just 1:24 later, tipping in a centering pass from Morgan Geekie from the low slot. The game winner came when a shot by Jake Debrusk was blocked, and Poitras slammed it in from just inside the right faceoff circle. Brad Marchand added an empty netter at 17:26 to improve the Bruins to 5-0-0 on the early season. Linus Ullmark earned the win in net with 30 saves. Charlie Coyle, Ian Mitchell, Charlie McAvoy, Geekie, and Debrusk each had one assist. Boston went 3-0 on their trip through California by beating San Jose, Los Angeles, and Anaheim and will finish their four game road trip on Tuesday night in Chicago against the Blackhawks. The 5-0-0 start to the regular season is the best since the 1937-38 club won their first six.
