Beaudoin, 17, from Lewiston, Maine, plays soccer and basketball at Lewiston High School. She was traveling in Florida last week and wasn’t home during the mass shootings. Right after she heard the news, she wanted to find a way to immediately support her home city and state that has experienced so much loss.
When announcing the “We Are Lew1ston” clothing collection, Beaudoin wanted to use her platform as an athlete and social media to be able to make an immediate impact and support the people in the city and across the state. The clothing is available for purchase locally and online through DR Designs, based in Manchester, Maine. The website page to purchase t-shirts, sweatshirts and other items is https://wearelewiston1.itemorder.com/shop/home/.

“In the past week, I have been looking for ways to help my home city of Lewiston during these last few devastating days. I have heard the same thing from many others as well. While we can’t change what has happened, what we can do is support one another to change the future. With all the incredible support from around the globe for our community this week, I have been inspired to create clothing that reflects who we are as a city in this very moment and keep that spirit alive for what we as a city, state, and country can be in the future. We are one,” said Beaudoin, captain of the girl’s basketball team at Lewiston High School.
Beaudoin worked with Pliable Marketing, a marketing company that specializes in athlete branding to help with the idea. She worked closely with Greg Glynn, founder & CEO of Pliable to create the online fundraiser. The clothing collection features several clothing options that include multiple color options focused on the city and high school’s primary colors of blue, black and white. |
