The America East Conference announced their end of the season women’s soccer awards on Tuesday, and the University of Maine was very well represented after a successful regular season on the pitch.
Junior forward Abby Kraemer earned Striker of the Year, as she leads America East in goals, assists, points, and game winning goals. She is the first Black Bear since 2009 to win the award. Head coach Scott Atherley and assistant Liis Abbott were named the Coaching Staff of the Year. Kraemer, Lara Kirkby, and Myla Schneider were named to the First Team All-Conference, and Kristina Kelly made Second Team. Luise Reinwald, Abbey Thornton, and Victoria Dungey made the All-Rookie Team, while Kraemer and Schneider were also named to the All-Academic Team. The Black Bears finished second in the conference standings with a 9-1-6 record (4-1-3 in AE) and will be hosting Vermont in the America East semifinals on Thursday night at 6 p.m. at Mahaney Diamond in Orono.
