The North Atlantic Conference announced their end of the season awards this week for field hockey and women’s soccer. Several Husson University players were on those lists.
In field hockey- Husson goalie Kimmie Goddard was tabbed as the NAC Defensive Player of the Year. Tessa Capozzoli earned Rookie of the Year, while Capozzoli, Goddard, Teagan Blackie, and Maddie Perkins were also named to the All-Conference Team. Julia Murch also made the list as she was put on the Sportsmanship Team. The Eagles, who ran off a six game win streak to end their season and finished 9-5, also won their third straight conference title by defeating Thomas College 2-1 in Bangor on Sunday. In women’s soccer- Natalie Aviolla from Husson took home one of the bigger awards, as she was named Co-Player of the Year in the NAC. She also was awarded a spot on the Conference First Team. Lindsay Russell won Senior Scholar Athlete of the Year, was named to the Second Team, and also the Sportsmanship Team. Other Eagles honored included Charlotte Messer and Caley Nault (First Team), along with MacKenzie Lambert (Third Team). Husson went 12-6-1 this fall, losing 2-0 in the NAC quarterfinals to in-state rival Maine Maritime Academy last Saturday.
