In what was an impressive season opener, the Mattanawcook Academy Lynx rolled past the Calais Lady Blue Devils 57-19 in Lincoln on Friday night in Class C North girls basketball action led by a double double from sophomore Addison Cyr.
Mattanawcook held a 28-13 halftime lead, and then outscored Calais 29-6 over the final two quarters. The Lynx held the Blue Devils to just two points in 14 minutes of action in the second half. Cyr had an impressive stat line of 31 points and 15 rebounds on a very efficient 12-17 shooting from the floor. Megan House, another outstanding sophomore, added 12 points, six rebounds, and four assists. Senior guards Lauren House and Navenah De La Cruz also combined to hit four three-point baskets.
Mattanawcook plays on the road on Monday when they head to Corinth to face Central. Calais will head home and host Narraguagus on Wednesday.
