In a Class C North showdown on Wednesday night in Baileyville, the Mattanawcook Academy Lady Lynx dominated the Woodland Lady Dragons securing a decisive 72-34 victory.
The Lady Lynx showcased exceptional teamwork, employing precise interior passing that led to high-percentage shots at the rim with assists on 22 of their 28 made field goals, as they built a comfortable 37-17 halftime lead. Their defense was formidable, holding the Dragons to a mere 18% shooting from the field as they managed to make only 9 of their 50 attempts.
Key performers for the Mattanawcook Academy Lady Lynx were Megan House who contributed an impressive 22 points, eight assists, and seven rebounds. Additionally, Addison Cyr recorded a double-double with 14 points and 10 rebounds, while Lily Wotton chipped in with 12 points, nine rebounds, and four steals. Kaitlyn Thornton also made a significant impact with eight points, 10 rebounds, and four assists.
Looking ahead, the Lady Lynx (4-1) will face George Stevens Academy in Blue Hill on Friday, December 22nd, before heading into the holiday break. The team’s stellar performance against Woodland sets a positive tone as they continue their competitive journey in Class C North.
