BINGHAM- The Valley Cavaliers boys and girls basketball teams took on the Forest Hills Tigers in a Class D South doubleheader Wednesday night. It would end up a clean sweep for Valley in front of their home crowd on pack the gym night, as the girls team stayed unbeaten and the Cavaliers boys got their eighth win of the season.
In the girls game- Madeline Hill had a huge evening, including scoring her 1000th career point as Valley rolled to a 75-39 win over Forest Hills. Hill only needed five points to reach that plateau and did so with 1:03 left in the first quarter. She would put in 16 points in the second period, and finished with a game-high 33 points (three 3-pointers), six rebounds, six blocked shots, three steals, and two assists. Kirsten Bigelow added 16 points (four 3-pointers) and four steals. 8th grader Liana Hartwell contributed 12 points, nine rebounds, and seven assists as the Cavaliers improved to 12-0. Brianna Mills also hauled down 10 rebounds, as they outrebounded the Tigers 37-24 and shot 3-6 from the free throw line. Allison Dunning led Forest Hills (8-3) with 20 points (three 3-pointers), and the Tigers went 11-21 at the line.
In the boys game- Harry Louis had a game-high 33 points, that included 25 of them between the second and third quarter combined as Valley completed the sweep 88-40 over Forest Hills. Louis had four 3-pointers and also added seven assists, six rebounds, and three steals as the Cavaliers improved to 8-3. Fisher Tewksbury wasn’t far behind in scoring as he put in 29 points, also contributing 10 rebounds and four blocked shots. Also chipping in was Collin Nichols with nine points, and Jared Ricker with six points and 11 rebounds. Valley outrebounded the Tigers 44-25, and shot 5-10 from the free throw line. Jaxson Desjardins led Forest Hills (8-4) with 15 points, and Cooper Daigle had 11 rebounds. They shot 4-7 at the line.
Both Valley teams are at Buckfield in their next game on Friday, while Forest Hills girls and boys are back at home to host Carrabec next Monday.
