In Orono Friday night, Rylee Moulton scored a career-high 27 points as the Penobscot Valley High School (PVHS) Howlers rolled to a 72-19 Class C girls basketball win over the Red Riots.
The first quarter started in a defensive battle until PVHS junior Ellie Austin scored 10 straight points creating a 10-0 lead for the Howlers. Their defense held Orono scoreless after the first 15-0.
PVHS went into the half with a 33-9 lead and Mouton caught fire with 16 points in the third quarter. Austin also chipped in with 19 points and 18 rebounds, while Brooklynn Raymond contributed 13 points in the win for the 12-2 Howlers.
Orono (3-10) was lead by Nina Mitchell with six points and Kate Higgins with five. Both teams are back in action on Monday as the Red Riots are at George Stevens Academy, and PVHS will host the Central Red Devils.
