GUILFORD- Brady Gaw made a clutch three-pointer late in the game to give the PCHS Pirates a 39-38 win over Dexter on Wednesday night.
With the Pirates trailing 37-35 with just over a minute left, Ben Higgins stole an inbounds pass, got it to Gaw who drilled the shot to give the Pirates a lead. Gaw would make a free throw in the final minute to secure the win.
PCHS held a 25-14 lead at the half thanks to nine first half points from Higgins. Dexter rallied in the second half behind 15 combined points from Ethan Doherty and Kody Kimball. Gaw had eight points in the second half for the Pirates.
Gaw and Higgins finished with 12 points each. Gaw also had six rebounds and two assists. Higgins had four rebounds and three steals. Chase Lander had nine points all on three-pointers. Noah Kain has a three-pointer and five rebounds. Scott Chadbourne recorded three points, five assists, four rebounds, and two steals. PCHS (10-6) will host Greenville on Saturday.
Doherty had 13 points and 10 rebounds to lead the Tigers. Kimball added 12 points, five rebounds, two assists, and two steals. Kellen Peavy put in eight points. Dexter (7-9) will host Schenck on Friday night.
The most important stat of the night was $2920 raised for the Aliza Jean Family Cancer Foundation on Aliza Jean Night in Guilford.
