BANGOR— Southern Aroostook used a balanced attack in a 67-36 MPA Class D boys basketball quarterfinal win over Jonesport-Beals Saturday afternoon at the Cross Insurance Center.
The Warriors broke open a close game by outscoring the Royals 38-12 in the middle two quarters. They held Jonesport-Beals to just two points in the third period.
Ethan Collier scored a game-high 20 points and had eight rebounds for the Warriors. Lincoln Hardy had 16 points, and Dylan Burpee filled up the stat sheet with 13 points, nine rebounds, three steals, two assists, and two blocks. Trafton Russell chipped in with 11 points. Southern Aroostook (13-6) will play Bangor Christian in a semifinal game on Wednesday night at 7.
Kaden Beal and Brevan Kinney had 10 points each to lead the Royals. Jonesport-Beals finished their season with a 12-8 record.
Southern Aroostook outrebounded Jonesport-Beals 29-13. The Warriors shot 14-18 from the free throw line, while the Royals shot 4-8.
