BANGOR— The Penobscot Valley Howlers went on a 10-0 run in the first quarter, and cruised to a 63-30 win over Hodgdon in a MPA Class C girls quarterfinal game played Monday night at the Cross Insurance Center.
The Howlers trailed 5-2, and responded with a 10-0 spurt and cruised from that point. PVHS had five different scorers in the first quarter and held a 19-10 lead. PVHS outscored Hodgdon 18-6 in the second quarter as they had a 37-16 lead at intermission. Freshman Brooklyn Raymond made 5 three-pointers in the first half.
Rylee Moulton had 12 points in the second half as the Howlers outscored the Hawks 26-14. Raymond tied a Class C North single game tournament record with 6 three-pointers. She finished with 18 points. Moulton had 17 points (3 three-pointers), while Ellie Austin finished with a double-double with 10 points and 12 rebounds. Mia Neal had seven points and five rebounds. PVHS (17-2) will play Fort Kent in a semifinal game Thursday at 7 PM.
Aleyah Matheison led the Hawks with 14 points, five rebounds, and three steals. Hodgdon finishes the season with a 15-5 record.
