BANGOR- The top seeded and unbeaten Schenck Wolverines led from start to finish, scoring the first 10 points of the game in rolling to 74-21 Maine Principals’ Association Class D boys quarterfinal win over Wisdom on Monday morning.
Mason McDunnah had 11 first quarter points for Schenck and scored the first seven of the contest, including a couple fastbreak dunks. The Wolverines led 22-3 after the opening eight minutes. They would score the first 12 points of the second, putting five players on the scoresheet to build a 36-6 halftime advantage. It was more of the same in the second half, as they opened the third period on a 15-0 spurt to advance to a Wednesday night semifinal.
McDunnah finished with a game-high 23 points for Schenck, also recording a double double by adding 10 rebounds, two assists, two steals, and a blocked shot. Samuel Jacobs contributed 11 points, Gabe Brown had eight, and Trafton Morrison chipped in seven points. The Wolverines won the rebounding battle 34-24. Camden Pelletier led #9 seed Wisdom with 13 points, six rebounds, and four steals. The Pioneers end their season with a record of 7-13. Schenck (19-0) will face Katahdin in the semifinals on Wednesday night at 8:30 p.m.
