BANGOR— The defending state champs from Ellsworth used a balanced attack to power their way to a 64-44 win over Caribou in a MPA semifinal game played Wednesday afternoon at the Cross Insurance Center.
The Lady Eagles scored 25 points in the second quarter to take a 42-22 lead into halftime. Ellsworth had seven different scorers in the half, with Abby Radel leading the way with 11 points in the first 16 minutes.
Ellsworth had five players score at least eight points. Radel scored a team-high 17 points, and also had four rebounds and two assists. Grace Jaffray had 14 points, nine rebounds, and three steals. Addison Atherton had nine points (seven in fourth quarter), Lily Bean contributed eight points, eight rebounds, and three steals, Elise Sargent also had eight points. Ellsworth (20-0) will play Old Town in the regional final on Friday at 6:05 PM.
Madelynn DePrey scored a game high 20 points and pulled down 11 rebounds for the Lady Vikings. Liv Adams had five points and 16 rebounds. Caribou finishes the season with a 13-7 record.
