BANGOR- Old Town broke open a tie game by scoring the first 14 points of the fourth quarter to grab a 49-42 win over MDI in a Class B MPA semifinal game played Wednesday morning at the Cross Insurance Center.
The teams played to an 18-18 first half. They each scored eight points in the the third quarter. The Coyotes exploded to score the first 14 points of the fourth quarter. Aiden Gomm (8) and Grayson Thibeault (7) combined to score 15 points in the final period as the Coyotes held on for the win.
Gomm scored a team high 12 points for the Coyotes. Emmitt Byther had 11 points, 21 rebounds, and three blocks. Thibeault put in 11 points. Brendan Mahaney had 11 points and grabbed nine rebounds. Old Town (17-3) will play Orono in the regional final on Friday night at 7:45 PM.
Spencer Laurendeau scored a game high 14 points for the Trojans. Old Town out rebounded MDI 41-23. The Trojans finish the season with a record of 10-11.
