BANGOR- The Mount View Mustangs went on a 17-2 run in the first half that propelled them to a 66-40 win over Fort Fairfield in a MPA Class C semifinal game played Thursday afternoon at the Cross Insurance Center.
The Tigers started quick jumping out to a 15-8 lead, they followed that with the first basket of the second quarter to take a nine point lead. The Mustangs responded with their run. Wyatt Evensen sparked the rally with eight points.
Noah Hurd scored eight points in the third quarter to help his Mustangs outscore Fort Fairfield 17-7. Evensen had nine in the fourth to help Mount View advance, overall ending the game on a 58-23 run after trailing by nine.
Micah Daigle had 13 points and three steals to lead the Tigers. Ethan Williard had eight points and six rebounds. Fort Fairfield finishes the season with a 14-6 record. Mount View shot 20-27 from the free throw line, the Tigers shot 5-8.
Evensen led the Mustangs with 22 points, 10 rebounds, five steals, and three assists. Hurd added 16 points, six assists, four rebounds, and four steals. Wyatt Bennett contributed eight points, while Ben Osbourne had seven points and 10 rebounds. The Mustangs out rebounded the Tigers 32-17. Mount View (15-6) will play Calais or Hodgdon in the regional final on Saturday night at 7:45 PM. It is the first time the Mustangs have reached the regional final since 1987.
