The Foxcroft Ponies held off a late Bucksport rally to earn a 5-4 high school baseball win at Bucksport on Monday afternoon. Hayden Strout allowed only two hits and two runs (one earned) in six innings on the mound for the Ponies. He walked four and struck out 10 on 110 pitches (65 strikes).
Thomas Day, Calvin Landry, and Aiden Harvey each reached base twice for the Ponies. Jack Caruso had two RBI. Jason Richard closed out the game, allowing two unearned runs and striking out two in the seventh inning. Foxcroft (2-0) will host Orono on Wednesday.
Gavyn Holyke had one hit and two RBI for the Bucks. Holyke pitched a complete game allowing five runs (three earned) on six hits and three walks, while striking out 10. Bucksport (1-2) will host Dexter on Wednesday.
