The Greater Northeast Collegiate Baseball League announced their end of the season awards on Friday afternoon, and the Bangor Babes ended up taking two of those.
Trevor Delaite was named Coach of the Year, after guiding the team to a 14-4 regular season and a home semifinal playoff game in their first season in the league. The Babes picked up a second award with Organization of the Year, also helped by General Manager Colton Albertson. Bangor is hosting Augusta in a GNCBL postseason matchup Friday night in Orono with a spot in a best of three championship series beginning Sunday afternoon on the line.
Other awards announced by the league were:
Most Valuable Player- Kyle Douin (Augusta)- .435 average, three homeruns, 13 runs batted in
Pitcher of the Year- Sam Calder (Augusta)- 2.00 earned run average, 18 innings pitched, 15 hits, four earned runs
Defensive Player of the Year- Richard Gilboy (Old Orchard Beach)- .938 fielding percentage, five double plays
Executive of the Year- Corey Frink (Old Orchard Beach)- helped to lead the Bugs to a 17-6 regular season record and a spot in the GNCBL playoffs
