Max Clark had six touchdown passes on Saturday afternoon, in leading the Husson University Eagles to a 56-22 Conference of New England football victory over Nichols College at the Winkin Complex in Bangor. It was the CNE opener for both teams, and also the homecoming game for Husson.
Clark had three touchdown passes in each half, with his first one of the day of 14 yards to Cullen Casey giving his team the lead for good late in the first quarter 14-7. He tossed his final three in the third period of 13 yards to Nason Berthelette, another 14-yarder to Casey, and 7 yards to Cam Holmes. Husson put up 587 yards of total offense (219 passing, 368 rushing) and had 33 first downs, compared to just 13 for visiting Nichols College.
Quarterback Ian Snow accounted for all three touchdowns in the loss for the Bisons, passing for two and rushing for one more. Nichols College falls to 3-3 (0-1 in CNE). Clark went 15-19 passing for 212 and his six touchdown throws in the Husson win. Lavar Hunter (129) and Jed Lober (126) both went over the century mark in rushing, with Hunter also finding the endzone once. Holmes (91 yards) and Casey (56 yards) both had five receptions and also two touchdown catches each. Dom Wilson also had a TD reception, and Aiden Sergent added another on the ground. Husson is now 4-2 (1-0 in CNE) and will continue conference play on the road next Saturday with a trip to Curry College for a 2:30 p.m. kickoff.
