Husson men’s basketball, Maine Maritime Academy women to host North Atlantic Conference East Division Tournament

The Husson Eagles men’s basketball team and the women’s team from Maine Maritime Academy have earned the right to host the North Atlantic Conference East Division Tournament this upcoming weekend for a chance to play in the league championship game the following Saturday.

#1 seed Husson men’s basketball will take on #4 Maine Maritime Academy on Friday, February 21st in the quarterfinals at 5:30 p.m. at Newman Gymnasium in Bangor. The University of Maine-Presque Isle and the University of Maine-Farmington will square off in the second quarterfinal as the #2 and #3 seeds respectively. The two winners will meet on Saturday, February 22nd at 2 p.m. in the semifinals (East Division Championship). The Eagles are the defending East Division Champion and NAC Champion. The East victor will host the West winner in the conference championship game on Saturday, March 1st at 1 p.m. The top seed in the West is SUNY Delhi.

Maine Maritime Academy women’s basketball took the top seed for a third straight season as they’ll host in Castine. The Mariners have won the entire tournament in back to back seasons, and are on a 32-game win streak vs conference opponents. They will face Thomas College in the quarterfinals at 5:30 on Friday, February 21st, while Husson and the University of Maine-Farmington meet up in the other quarterfinal. The two winners will square off in the semifinals (East Division Championship) on Saturday, February 22nd at 2 p.m. for a right to advance to the league championship game on Saturday, March 1st at 1 p.m. The West champion hosts this year against the East victor in that conference title game. The top seed in the West is SUNY Cobleskill.
