Playing without Jayson Tatum and Kristaps Porzingis, the Boston Celtics put seven players in double figures on Sunday in crushing the Washington Wizards 124-90 at TD Garden.
Boston (58-20) never trailed and hit 24 three-pointers on 52 attempts in the victory. Payton Pritchard led the way coming off the bench to score 20 points, while also grabbing six rebounds and dishing out seven assists. The Celtics had just broken a single season NBA record in their Friday night home win over Phoenix for three-pointers made in a season (1,364), breaking the mark set by the Golden State Warriors two years ago. The C’s were a +30 on the glass, outrebounding the Wizards 62-32 which included 25 offensive rebounds.
Boston, who has already locked up the #2 seed in the East for the NBA Playoffs, finish the regular season on the road at New York and Orlando on Tuesday and Wednesday before hosting Charlotte on Friday and Sunday. Three teams (Orlando, Atlanta, and Chicago) are separated by two games for #7 in the conference. The #7 seed would face the defending league champion Celtics in the first round of the postseason.
