Husson softball sweeps Saint Joseph’s College

The Husson softball team returned to action on Friday afternoon for the first time in almost three weeks, and would sweep a non-conference doubleheader over Saint Joseph’s College (Maine) at O’Keefe Field in Bangor 2-0 and 5-1 in the home openers.

In game one, Husson got sacrifice RBI flyouts from Lexi Volinsky (Noble) and Camryn King (Nokomis) to shutout the Monks. Tatyanna Biamby (Gorham) had two hits, and Sky Johnson (5-3) went the distance in the circle to get the win allowing just two hits with one walk and seven strikeouts. In the second game, Bulla McCabe got the Eagles offense going with a solo homerun in the first inning and had two hits to help her team complete the sweep. Tori Exel (Noble) had three hits, and Ana Lang (Searsport) fired the second complete game of the day for Husson and gave up one run on seven hits with two walks and 11 strikeouts.

Husson (9-9) will host non-conference doubleheaders vs Colby College and Plymouth State University next Monday and Thursday, before finally opening conference play next Saturday at home with two games vs Thomas College.
