The Husson Eagles softball team continued their winning streak on Thursday, sweeping a non-conference doubleheader over Plymouth State University 6-0 and 12-0 by mercy rule in five innings at O’Keefe Field in Bangor.
In game one- Bulla McCabe and Tori Exel (Noble) started the scoring early with an RBI double and RBI single respectively in the first inning, while Sierra Yates and Ana Lang (Searsport) combined for a two-hit shutout in the circle. Yates (1-0) got the win allowing one hit while walking two and striking out three in 4.0 innings. Lang fired the final 3.0 frames giving up one hit with three walks and seven strikeouts. Exel had three hits, Kiara McLeod (Oxford Hills) added two hits and two RBI, while Camryn King (Nokomis) also contributed two hits that included a solo homerun.
In game two- The combination of McCabe and Exel did it again, as McCabe hit a two-run homer and Exel added a solo shot in a six run first inning as the Eagles completed the sweep by mercy rule in five innings. Exel also crushed a three-run homerun later on in the third inning. She finished with three hits and four RBI. McCabe, King, Tatyanna Biamby (Gorham), and Lyndsee Reed (Hermon) all had two hits. McCabe had three runs driven in, while Biamby and Reed added two each. Sky Johnson (7-3) got the pitching victory allowing three hits with one walk and five strikeouts in 3.0 innings. Jazmin Johnson (Lawrence) finished the final 2.0 innings in the circle and struckout three while giving up two hits. Kennedy Michaud led the Panthers of Plymouth State with two hits on the day as their season record drops to 16-9.
Husson is on a seven game win streak improving to 13-9. The Eagles open up their North Atlantic Conference schedule by hosting Thomas College on Friday for a doubleheader beginning at 3 p.m.
