Brady Gaw had four hits, while Willis Rienhardt had four RBI to lead Dexter/PCHS to a 12-8 baseball win over Central on Monday afternoon in a season opener for both teams.
Central jumped out to a 4-0 lead, the Tigers followed with 10 unanswered runs to take a 10-4 lead after five innings. Central cut the deficit to 10-8 in the top of the sixth inning. With two runners on, Dexter/PCHS catcher Noah Kain threw out an attempted base stealer to halt the Red Devils rally.
Gaw had two doubles, three runs scored, and one RBI from the leadoff spot. Rienhardt had two hits, including a double, and one run scored. Chase Farnsworth reached base three times, with two hits, two runs scored, and one RBI. Tyler Gould also had two hits, two runs scored, and one RBI for the Tigers. Will Simpson contributed two hits, one RBI, and one run scored.
Cam Rounds had three RBI to lead the Red Devils offense. Daniel Dyer had two hits. Bryce Cadieux reached base twice and had two RBI. Gage Buzzard walked three times and scored two runs.
Gaw started on the mound for Dexter/PCHS. He allowed three unearned runs on one hit and one walk, while striking out four in two innings. Simpson picked up the win on the mound, he allowed one run on one hit and three walks, while striking out two. Reinhard allowed four runs (two earned) in two innings. Kain locked the win down by pitching a perfect seventh inning, striking out two. Dexter/PCHS (1-0) will be at Searsport on Friday.
Kohen Kennedy pitched the complete game for the Red Devils. Kennedy allowed 12 runs (eight earned) on 15 hits and three walks, while striking out two. Central (0-1) will be at Mattanawcook on Wednesday.
